Eating meat has become a part of our daily lives. The question is whether it is good for us or not. Is meat good or bad for our health?

Meat is considered a source of protein and important nutrients. It also provides iron, zinc, vitamin B12, vitamin D and other important vitamins and minerals.

Most people think that meat is healthier than processed foods because it has less fat, salt, sugar, and chemicals that make it last longer. However, some studies suggest that eating too much red meat increases the risk of heart disease and cancer.

There have long been concerns about the potentially harmful health effects of high meat consumption. For many years, the German Nutrition Society (DGE) has advised people to consume no more than 300 to 600 grams of meat and animal products per week, but the average German consumes significantly more.

Red meat, such as beef and pork, contains a lot of iron, which is necessary for the formation of red blood cells. However, a 2017 study found that eating too much red meat promotes the development of colon cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Red meat is classified as "possibly carcinogenic" by the World Health Organization (WHO). Light meat, such as chicken, is considered more digestible, lower in calories and lower in fat. Heme iron is the ingredient that gives meat its red color.

A large-scale American study has provided new evidence that eating red and processed meat is associated with an increased risk of cancer. For the sake of your health, you should minimize your meat consumption.
